Grandma Secret Stuffing Recipe A Thanksgiving Tradition

Thanksgiving, a time for family, gratitude, and of course, delightful feasts. One of the cherished traditions in many households is the aroma of stuffing wafting through the air. In this special Thanksgiving recipe, we unveil Grandma’s Secret Stuffing Recipe — a cherished family secret that brings warmth and flavor to the holiday table. Get ready to savor the season with this time-honored dish!

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of day-old rustic bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sage, dried
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bread:

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • Spread the cubed bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the bread is dry and slightly toasted. Remove and let it cool.

2. Sauté the Aromatics:

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onions and celery. Cook until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and continue cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in chopped parsley, sage, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

3. Mix the Ingredients:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes and the sautéed aromatic mixture.

4. Add the Liquid:

  • Pour the chicken or vegetable broth over the bread mixture. Mix gently until the bread absorbs the liquid.

5. Bind with Eggs:

  • Gradually pour the beaten eggs over the stuffing, stirring constantly to ensure even distribution. The eggs will bind the stuffing together.

6. Bake to Perfection:

  • Transfer the stuffing mixture to a buttered baking dish.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is golden brown and slightly crispy.

7. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Once baked to perfection, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Spoon the stuffing onto serving plates, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve alongside your Thanksgiving turkey and favorite side dishes.

Grandma’s Secret Stuffing Recipe embodies the essence of Thanksgiving, bringing together the richness of tradition and the warmth of shared moments. As you savor each bite of this flavorful stuffing, may you find joy in the cherished memories and the love that goes into creating this timeless dish.
